We run a social enterprise café and catering service venture, as well as a community food service at the Black Prince Community Hub in Lambeth.
Students prepare and cook food, make barista-quality coffee, and develop customer service skills. The café is open to the public for coffees and other hot and cold drinks, as well as snacks and light meals. Share Catering Services takes on external contracts, providing food for meetings and events.
We run the community meals service in partnership with the Black Prince Trust to support Lambeth residents adversely affected by the cost-of-living crisis.
Taking part in the project:
- Encourages active citizenship - supporting the community during a difficult time leads to a sense of pride and achievement
- Helps students feel a part of the community and encourages them to develop their social skills as they connect with local residents and customers
- Develops hospitality and catering skills, providing valuable work experience which could lead to future employment opportunities
