We run an arts programme for adults with learning disabilities and need volunteers to develop relationships with students to support and tap in to their artistic abilities. You'll work closely with our students on a range of activities such as sewing, painting, designing t-shirts, making greeting cards, jewellery and much more. The arts programme focuses on developing students' skills and attention to detail, as well as providing a therapeutic space.
Your main responsibilities as a volunteer will be to monitor student progression and promote inspirational thinking. You’ll support people to achieve their full potential and increase self-confidence in their ability to create art. You’ll work with each student in a personalised way that reflects their level of understanding whilst broadening their knowledge and skills.
Our ideal volunteer will:
- have a love of arts and crafts
- have good communication skills
- be warm, patient and friendly
- be willing to go the extra mile to help people
- be punctual and reliable
- have a strong commitment to the inclusion of disabled people in all aspects of life
